hiiii friend,

guysssss i just ran the ny marathon omg like what???

it was seriously one of the best and craziest experiences of my entire life, and i’m still processing everything from sunday.

the craziest part was the fact that there was someone cheering me on for every single mile along the way. seeing the amount of support was what kept me going and is the only reason i actually finished.

((( because i was definitely shitting myself wondering if i would be able to make it the whole way )))

if you’ve seen me posting about this ny trip so far, i know it looks awesome - it is! which is why you’re probably going to look at the topic of this newsletter and go ‘jony, what the hell?’

so, let me explain…

everyone wants to be an influencer

first off, this trip is not at all what i expected it to be. like, it’s actually been insane (((( if you watch the video of my reaction to our hotel room you can see my shock ))))

and i know looking at that is extremely aspirational, which is why so many people are like, ‘look at all that free stuff she gets. i want to be an influencer so that can be my life, too.’

i understand that. it looks cool because it IS cool. of course everyone wants that.

but today i want to talk about what doesn’t get talked about enough when it comes to being an influencer.

what you don’t see

when you see influencers going to events, getting lots of free stuff, or essentially bragging about how great their life is, please know you are only seeing a very small part of it.

you don’t see the fact that a lot of times they worked for years making nothing. you don’t see the insecurities they are dealing with.

we are so easily influenced by the internet, so it just looks like they got lucky and this life came to them overnight. which for some people maybe it did. but for most, they worked for fucking years before seeing any benefit from it.

just seeing the outcome of that work and not the process primes us to think it must be easy, that it’s all rainbows and butterflies, and that if you just start posting, you’re destined to be successful immediately.

then when you aren’t, you think something’s wrong.

so today i want to share a more realistic view of being an ‘influencer’…..

3 truths about being an influencer no one talks about
