hiiii friend,
have you ever decided you’re finally going to get serious about making content, created a plan, executed for a few days……. then fallen off?
then, before you know it, you’ve gone from missing one day of posting to two to three and next minute it’s been weeks. you tell yourself you’ll start fresh on monday, and then the pattern repeats.
yeah, that ‘all or nothing’ mentality….. the one where you go all out for awhile then when you slip up once you think it’s all over….is normal. and speaking from experience, the learning curve to get over it is incredibly steep.
but it is possible.
last week, we talked about how to get followers. and as we said, it really comes down to consistently showing up as YOU.
cue you wondering ‘ok jony, so how do i actually be consistent’?
it’s a great question. because we all have good intentions but lack follow through. and then we all have days we just can’t be fucked.
but consistency means showing up even when you don’t want to.
so let’s talk about it.
(((( and before you tune me out because you’ve heard ‘just be consistent’ a million times, stay with me for just a minute ))))
the problem with ‘just be consistent’
if we’re all honest, the shine of saying stuff like ‘stay consistent’ is gone. it's overdone and just feels cliché at this point. and hearing it so much makes us think it’s this massive unachievable thing.
and because it feels huge, we're not realistic. we expect ourselves to give a david goggins level of effort when we're not fucking david goggins.
i'm the furthest thing from him. honestly i’m the laziest person i know. which is exactly why if i can learn to be consistent, you can too - even if you are lazy like me.
you have to go from thinking ‘is this ideal?’ to ‘is this easy?’
if you’re just starting to make content, it would be insane to tell you to start consistently posting one vlog a day, for example. if you work a 9-5 and also need time to cook, clean, gym, and rest, there’s just no way.
think about it. you are ending every day with 8+ hours of footage to sift through. then you have to record a voiceover, which is not easy unless you're a natural born poet.
you'll get to editing and not want to touch the footage at all, because it's way too much to even think about.
ok, i’m not saying it’s impossible. maybe you are as cracked as david goggins. but for the rest of us, the only way through is to think in terms of ‘easy’ rather than ‘ideal’.
that means you need to be so for real with what you can actually be consistent with rather than what you COULD do in a perfect world.
whether that's posting daily, three times a week, or once a week, think about how easy you have to make ‘being consistent’ to actually get it done.
so, how do you actually make ‘being consistent’ easy???
